Matt and I have been a little sick the last few days, but I finally have photos of the finished entryway, plus some updated photos of our living room and music room. Let’s start with the entrance.
We don’t have an official entry. Our front door opens to the front great room of the house. So I tried to divide that big room into two areas to create more of an entrance, so I call this wall an entrance wall. This is what the entryway wall used to look like.

I actually really liked how the entrance looked. So redoing the entry, in my opinion, wasn’t necessarily me trying to improve something I didn’t like. I was just ready for a change. I bought this floral mural from Anthropologie when it went on sale at a discount I couldn’t pass up, and then held on to it for over a year while I tried to decide where to put it. After all the other options disappeared one by one, the entryway wall was the clear choice for the mural. So while I really liked the previous version of the entry, I was ready for a change.
Here you have the new look of the entrance with the new mural as the protagonist.

I originally planned to use two light fixtures, but I planned to do so after cutting holes in the mural for the wall sconces, and then I had serious doubts about whether I could cover those holes without it being an obvious patch job. But after repairing them with artistic pastels, I have to look for them. So I chose not to cover the dark pink flower on the right with a lamp, since the patch over the hole matches it very well.

The mural is definitely the biggest and boldest change I made in this area, but second is the new color of the console table. From the time I repainted my teal kitchen in 2017 until recently when I finished our master bedroom, green hasn’t played a prominent role anywhere in our house. But over the last year, I’ve slowly been adding more and more green. I added some green in our bedroom…

And I added some in the hallway of the bedroom.

And I have quite a bit of green in the studio, specifically in the back entrance and the bathroom, but I also have the huge landscape design that has a lot of green in it and is framed in green.

So it seemed right to add more green to the main areas of the house. I’ll probably eventually add more to the music room, living room, breakfast room, and possibly even the kitchen. But for now I have started with the entrance.

The mural makes a great impact in the living room and I love it. Since I installed the mural, I have spent more time in the living room so I can look at that mural.

One change I made, that I will probably undo, is that I added the bird paintings to the living room wall between the music room and the kitchen. I liked the idea much more in my mind than in reality. Although I think the problem could be the frames. While I loved those gold corners on the frames when they were on the entryway wall, I think those gold corners might be too much on this wall. I think I’d love the bird prints here if they were in white frames, so when I have time I’ll probably try removing the gilding from the corners and see if I like it better. I have a feeling I will.

Here are some more photos of the living room without comments…

And now we will move on to the music room. The biggest change here is that there used to be a paneled opening from the music room to a hallway that led to the hall, guest bathroom, and three bedrooms.
But now that framed opening has French doors and everything beyond those doors has become our master bedroom.

But other than that, everything else remains the same.

I really love this new view from the music room towards the entry wall with the new mural.

But like I said before, I think now I need to find a way to add more green to the music room. There is green in my large pixel flower artwork, but I would like a little more.

That’s all for now! I’ll keep you posted on any changes I make while I find a way to add more green to the living room and music room. I don’t know why, but I’m really starting to love green more and more. It has never been a main color in my decor, but the more I add, the more I love it and want it. But for the foreseeable future, I’m done making changes to these rooms. Although I’m still not sure about the teal front door. I really want to paint it white, or at least a color other than teal. Although I’m having a hard time making a decision about it. Now that you can see the entire area, you can tell me what you think I should do with the front door. I really wish it were more than just teal.
