Our felt garland is a wonderful example of how an old craft can be reinvented with a modern twist. And the best part? No sewing necessary! Simply gather the felt, embroidery needle, some tacky glue and you’re done! Download our SVG template if you plan to use a cutting machine for your felt pieces, or feel free to cut them by hand.
Patchwork quilting has a rich history dating back centuries. While its exact origins are unknown, quilting has become a distinctly American art form. By sewing scraps of fabric, resourceful women of the 18th and 19th centuries created simple but beautiful patchwork quilts to keep their families warm and decorate their homes. Today, the vibrant colors and geometric patterns are instantly recognizable and continue to inspire artisans around the world.
We’ve chosen a rich autumnal palette of amethyst, lavender, plum, merlot, fern and snowdrop for our Felt Quilt Garland. However, you can easily swap it out for craft paper if you want to experiment. Whatever material you choose, we know you’ll have fun putting your own special touch on this project.
Once you’re done, we can’t wait to see your felt garlands hanging proudly in your homes. So be sure to share your creations in our crafter community or tag us on Instagram with #MadeWithLia.
Craft Tip: The trick to keeping everything aligned is to work from the inside out, making sure the straight edges meet perfectly.
