What is the best paper for homemade cards?
I like to use cardstock or thicker card stock for cards like this. Since you want it to be a little sturdier, you will need thicker paper than for other crafts. I often have large packs of plain colored paper, but in this case, it’s all about the thicker options.
In fact, although I haven’t tried it yet, I think it would be a great project to use foam paper to make it last longer. Another option would be to use basic copy paper or construction paper and then laminate it with a simple page laminator and trim the edges. This will keep it strong and safe for years!

Can I mail this through USPS?
You can definitely mail this like you would any card. The only thing you should take into account would be the weight of the card and that it would need a large envelope. For projects like this, I just take a plain manila envelope and mail it with additional postage. If you’re good at making things with paper, you can make a personalized homemade envelope with fun scrapbooking paper.

Supplies needed
How to make a DIY monkey card
Start by folding the orange paper about ¼ of its length down as shown, and then cut out a circle, leaving the folded area folded to create a double-sided circle.
Once you cut it out of the paper, you’ll see that it opens easily for the “card” part of this project.
Now, you will trace two small, rounded ears on the orange craft paper, cut them out, and set them aside.
Trace and cut out two more rounded ears, just a little smaller, on the cream paper. These will be the inside of the ears.
Glue the cream ears to the orange ears.
Place the ears on top of the circular “head” with the open side down.
Now, you will draw a face shape on the cream paper and cut it out.
Glue the face on top of the head as shown and then draw the eyes, nose and mouth with a black marker.
Now you will draw the body on another sheet of orange paper. You’ll want a long, oval-shaped body and then rounded legs on each side as shown.
Next, cut an oval out of cream colored paper as shown in the middle of the belly.
Glue the body in place over the head.
Finally, draw and cut a tail to attach to the monkey’s back.
Write a simple message inside the monkey’s “head” and share it with friends or family!
Tips for craftsmen
If you find it difficult to draw shapes freehand, feel free to use a stencil or stencil. You can also do what I often do with shapes I have trouble drawing and use a cricut machine use a SVG file template. Not only does it give you the shape, but it will also trim it for you!
Another easy option for this is to find a monkey shaped coloring book and cut it out and then trace it onto the paper using it as an easy template!
