Where’s the Waldo costume for a family Halloween? Lovely Indeed

A Where’s Waldo Halloween costume is the perfect idea for families or groups! It’s easy, quick and you can wear the items with your regular wardrobe. (You may even already have some!) Read on for links to everything you’ll need.

I always see these totally brilliant family or group Halloween costume ideas online, but then I feel too overwhelmed to make it happen.

Last year, when we were Peter Pan, I was struggling at the last minute (a month after giving birth with Mags, by the way), the only thing that kept me going was Henry’s complete devotion to the idea.

AND that This is why we never have tutorials for our Halloween costumes about the year we wore them!

I’ve missed sharing the how-to’s over the last few years, so without further ado, here’s how we created a family-friendly Where’s Waldo costume?

Considerations for family or group costumes

I must say that this costume was a success. People still call us the Waldos. Really. See below how we put it all together and links to some of the pieces we used.

When I make Halloween costumes like this, I try to get pieces that we can wear later and mix them into our wardrobe.

So Henry’s blouse was part of a pajama, and so on. Anything not linked was something we already had, or that you should be able to find in your own closet.

How to use pieces you already have for a Where’s Waldo costume?

You probably already have many Waldo pieces in your closet! Get your own denim for the bottom half of the outfit – jeans, a skirt, or even a jumpsuit would be cute.

You can also use any boots you already have.

If you have a crossbody bag, use it as an accessory. Waldo also has a cane that he uses frequently, so that’s another thing you might be able to find or borrow.

As long as you have the hat, glasses, and beanie, you’re definitely good to go.
