Welcome to the SOS series

What do you do when you have to make dinner, but there are a million other things bothering you, throwing you off track, and driving you crazy? We offer easy, stress-free recipes that are a lifesaver on busy weeknights.

Summer is coming to an end, energies are changing and today I bring you exciting news:

We are about to start the SOS Series for Fall 2024!

This is the third installment of the SOS series and will feature much more of what we love: recipes for easy, delicious, flavorful, stress-free dinners.

We will have a new recipe every week to keep us going throughout the months of September and October! Fall is my favorite season to cook.

What is the SOS series?

A little backstory if you’re not familiar: I started the SOS series in April 2021. I developed it as a way to help myself get through a really challenging season: adjusting to life with a new baby, while dealing with the little tornado of toddlers, while trying to get back to work, while staying vigilant about Covid, and ultimately trying not to completely lose my mind every night at dinnertime. It was a season of takeout, frozen meals, and snacks for dinner, and while I love chips and salsa as much as the next person, there comes a time in your life when you’re like, Well, I’ve had enough chips. I need to prepare a proper meal.

At the heart of my struggle was a lack of time and energy: I love cooking and wanted to eat good food that was truly delicious, exciting and healthy… but I was (am?) so tired.

This was the beginning of my passion for easy recipes. My best adjectives for any SOS style recipe:

  • Can we do this with a short list of easy-to-find ingredients?
  • Can we get this on the table quickly?
  • It’s me? super Excited to eat leftovers?
  • And most of all, will this recipe give me (and my family) a few moments of joy while we fill our plates?

When does the series start?

The SOS series begins on Tuesday, September 10th.

We will be sharing new recipes here on the blog each week during the 8-week series!

What kind of recipes can I expect?

There are LOTS of GOOD RECIPES to look forward to in this series!

Protein is a huge thing in our house right now, so I tried to make all of these recipes protein-focused more than ever. Nothing new, no powders, no add-ins, no special ingredients, and I don’t take macronutrients into account.

That being said, I’m just trying to be more conscious and make sure that every meal naturally contains a good amount of protein, and that has definitely translated into more high protein recipes for this series. We’ve got chicken, turkey, tofu, beef, a little bit of everything.

A final personal note

These recipes are for anyone who has ever felt pressured at dinnertime.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed at work, dealing with physical or mental health issues, trying to manage a household with babies and kids, or just having a day off, my hope is that these SOS meals are here to give you a truly doable, fun, healthy, and delicious dinner option like a lifesaver. Honestly, I hope they feel like a hug.

The personal stories you have shared over the years in our previous rounds of SOS recipes have been truly transformative for me. We have heard from people going through chemotherapy, people dealing with chronic depression and anxiety, people who are in the thick of it all with babies and children, people working overtime at demanding jobs, and a general chorus of “Please make more of these recipes.”

In addition to making what I love to eat and what works for my family, their real-life stories have served as a guiding light for me when creating these recipes.

I’m so excited to do this again with you!

See you here again on Tuesday!
