Testing the LokLik cutting machine to recycle old clothes

I love customizing clothes, accessories, and toys for my kids. They love seeing something made just for them. And once you get started, there are endless items that can be decorated to make gifts, celebrations, school supplies, and even everyday items that are so much more fun. Think water bottles, backpacks, hats, t-shirts, and even shoes that can all be given a fun twist. Don’t even get me started on making gifts for their friends. The possibilities are endless!

LokLik cutting machine

One of the easiest, quickest, and most professional ways to do all of this is with a cutting machine. Take images or letters and cut them out of vinyl or adhesive paper to heat press or adhere to your materials. LokLik sent me their cutting machine to try out, so I decided to revitalize an old t-shirt I had used to make it look new for my daughter.

Free image library

To get your feedback, we spent way too much time searching through all the free images in the LokLik workshop. There is a fantastic collection of free images to choose from and you can even upload your own SVG files to cut your own designs. All of this is free and you don’t need to subscribe to use the app or download images from the workshop library. The search function is a little imprecise, but it didn’t take us long to find plenty of images we liked.

In the end we settled on this very simple bunny design, although I’m pretty sure it will make me go through all of our other favorites and make a whole collection of pieces. I also saw quite a few images that I’d like to try out for myself, and my son has picked out a lot of them too. I see myself using this machine a lot in the future!

Perfect for craftsmen

Very offers the LokLik. It’s very reasonably priced and the bundles allow for money-savings, making it an affordable option for home projects like this one, as well as for hobbyists who want to try their hand at making more custom pieces. This machine can cut a variety of materials, including heat transfer vinyl, paper, cardboard, and even felt. But its biggest draw is how incredibly quiet it is.

I knew it was a low volume machine before I tried it, but I was still surprised at how quiet it was when I first started it up. I had to check to see if it actually started! It’s the quietest machine on the market, making it perfect for small homes or communal spaces. I’ve used it from my coffee table while watching TV. I’ve even used it while my kids were watching and they didn’t say a word! If you’ve ever tried watching TV with kids, you’ll know how impressive this is.

One thing I noticed is that the app needs to be running for the machine to work. You’ll need to disable auto-lock if you’re using a phone or iPad to keep the machine running uninterrupted. But if the machine disconnects from the app, it’s easy to pick up the project where you left off.

I was very impressed with the quality of the cut and the heat transfer vinyl felt smooth once pressed onto the fabric. Overall, it’s a great beginner machine for the price! You can find out more and purchase your own LokLik cutting machine here.
