I installed the rest of the floral wallpaper mural in the entryway and I have to say this is my absolute favorite. I almost…almost…I wish I had found this mural when I was working in my studio because it would have been perfect for that long wall in my studio. But I am very happy that this mural is in the entrance of our house.
However, I hate that I had to cut almost six feet of mural to fit this wall. Everything is impressive. But I just don’t have a 20 foot wall anywhere in our house, so this was the best option.

Now I need to decide what to do with the wall sconces shades. Obviously the current green is too bright. What I really want are brushed gold metallic shades, but I can’t find any that are the right size and shape. You might end up having to make some new ones. But for now, I’d rather look at bright green shades than bare LED bulbs.

You may need smaller, simpler wall sconces. Instead of sconces with three lights, you may need sconces with one light. I’ll have to think about that. I’m open to either option: new shades for these sconces or new single bulb sconces.

Anyway, I’ll decide that later. I haven’t given up on my search for new shades yet and I’m not ready to give up on a DIY option either.

I’m not too sure about the console table either. I thought the one I have might cover up too much of the mural for my liking, but once it was in place, I really liked how it turned out (except for the drawer that is missing the edge and needs to be repaired ). The wall is over 12 feet wide so I think you need something heavy on that wall. I may be on the lookout for something new (either to buy or build), but for now, I’m happy with how it looks.

In fact, I don’t mind losing the part of the mural that is covered by the console table.

I want to repaint the front door now though. The teal door made sense when the entryway wall was the same color. But now that I no longer have the teal entry wall, the teal entry door doesn’t really make sense. I think a white front door would look better so as not to draw attention away from the mural.

Now that the mural is up and the console and sconces are in place, I think I need something on the wall between the sconces. Unfortunately, anything you put there will cover those two reddish pink flowers in the middle. But I think it seems incomplete without something on the wall between the sconces.

I think my preference would be a simple, round mirror with a wooden frame.

I have all kinds of mirrors on hand, but most are tall rectangles, arched top mirrors, etc. The only one I had that fits this area is the sunburst mirror. I think it’s too busy for this wall, but since it’s the only round mirror I have, I put it there just to get an idea of what a round mirror would look like there. This one is 37 inches in diameter, so you can see that a round mirror of that size would cover both central reddish-pink flowers.

I’m disappointed about that, but there was nothing I could do about it. I raised the mural as high as I could without cutting off those top yellow flowers on the left and the large pink flower on the right. At least I still have that other reddish pink flower that will peek out between a round mirror and the sconce on the right.
Anyway, it’s still a work in progress, but at least the mural is up now and I couldn’t be more excited with how it looks. I need to hang the bird paintings on the living room wall and then add a few more finishing touches. Once this is done, I will show you the entire room in its new look.
