My most popular holiday craft to date are these easy DIY Christmas Star Decorations. Not only are they quick to make, but they are also incredibly inexpensive. In fact, I’ve made some of these stars using recycled cardboard packaging which not only looks cute, but is also free! It all helps to make the Christmas season a little more magical and with a little less pressure on the bank balance.

Another great benefit of recycling your old packaging to make these Christmas stars is the benefit to the planet! Nobody needs more plastic decorations when paper and cardboard do the job so well. You can also paint them, add gold leaf, or even get the kids involved in a creative craft session. This is a great way to get them involved and feel the Christmas spirit!

Instructions:
- Print the template on A4 paper at 100% and then cut out the corresponding star and diamond shape to the size you need.
- Use the templates to cut 1 star and 4 diamonds from the chosen material. It can be anything from old cardboard boxes to milk cartons to tomato paste tubes. Be creative!
- Fold the diamond shapes in half so that the farthest points meet (across the center line, not with it) and cut along the center line.
- Slide the triangles into 4 points of the star so that the fold is in the center of the star, with 1 point missing between each triangle.

I’d love to see your versions of these stars! Tag me online (I’m @fallfordiy everywhere!) to show me what your stars look like. I can’t wait to see your creativity!
