  • 1 cup frozen sweet cherries
  • 3/4 cup standard size ice cubes
  • 3/4-1 cup lactose free milk (plain, sugar-free // we like it with almonds)
  • 1-2 tablespoons chocolate protein powder* (or substitute vanilla or unflavored)
  • 1-3 teaspoonful Cocoa powder (or cocoa powder)
  • 1 small handful baby spinach (optional // for added nutrition)
  • 1 Tablespoon cashew butter (optional //for wealth)
  • 1/2 teaspoonful vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1-2 teaspoonful maple syrup (optional // include if using sugar-free protein powder // or substitute with pitted dates)
  • In a high-speed blender (or a smaller, more powerful blender like a Nutribullet), add the cherries, ice, non-dairy milk (starting with the smallest amount), protein powder, and cocoa powder (use the smallest amount if using chocolate protein and the largest amount if using unflavored or vanilla protein). Optionally, add the baby spinach, cashew butter, and vanilla. For a sweeter smoothie or if using unsweetened protein powder, add the maple syrup (starting with the smallest amount).
  • Blend on high speed until the mixture is thick and smooth. Add more plant milk or use the tamper as needed to make blending easier. Taste and adjust as needed, adding more cocoa powder and maple syrup to taste.

  • Serve immediately (the texture and flavor are best when fresh) or freeze in an ice cube tray and then blend again (adding dairy-free milk as needed) to enjoy later.
