Here’s the main thing I want to tell you: I’m using this 12-inch skillet for dinner. literally almost every night and it’s amazing. It’s wider than my other pans, so I can comfortably cook 4 to 6 pieces of salmon or chicken. It has excellent browning and release properties. Does not contain PFAS. I have been using these kitchen utensils. almost daily since I received my set a few months ago. Here are my 5 favorite things about it!
1. These pans are amazing for cooking proteins.
To be clear, I use my basalt ceramic nonstick cookware for everything: a pasta pan, a one-pan chicken and rice dish, etc.
But where I like them the most is for frying and sautéing proteins..
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever had a pan that makes it so easy to get proteins to juicy, golden perfection without preventing them from sticking, under-browning, or overcooking. They consequently give me a very nice sear on the outside but allow the meats to release easily. HURRAH!
While the exterior has a nonstick ceramic coating, the base of the pan is made of aluminum, which is why it browns and browns so evenly!
I’ve never been a person who likes to just sauté a chicken breast in a skillet…until these skillets. I really love these basalt ceramic nonstick cookware. Shrimp, chicken, salmon, eggs and tofu – they all cook perfectly in these pans.
My favorite pan sizes
I have literally every size in this line and these are my two favorites:
- the 8-inch skillet (the little “egg cup” that is perfect for cooking 1 to 3 eggs at a time)
- the 12-inch skillet (a wide skillet that works incredibly well for everyday dinners for 4 to 6 people)
I’m using the 12 inch skillet for dinner. literally almost every night. It’s wide enough to comfortably cook 4 to 6 pieces of salmon or chicken and I really love it for that.
You can buy individual pans, but you can also buy them in a set – this set gives you three of the most commonly used pan sizes (including my two favorites), all in one package.
2. These pans do not contain PFAS, PTFE or PFOA.
PFAS are found in a wide range of products (fabrics, carpets, cosmetics, fast food packaging) and historically in kitchen utensils.
In the state of Minnesota (where I live and where Nordic Ware is headquartered), we have a new regulation that says that starting January 1, 2025, Companies cannot make or sell products with PFASwhich is a family of chemicals that are considered “forever chemicals.” This includes kitchen utensils.
Nordic Ware is a Minnesota company and has designed Basalt ceramic nonstick cookware to meet these new PFAS-free standards. I LOVE THIS. They are leaders in healthier nonstick cookware both in Minnesota and across the country.

I love versatility and these pans are incredibly versatile.
They can be used on the stove, ideally over medium to low heat, and can also be used in the oven at temperatures up to 400 degrees.

4. They are made in the USA by a family business.
There are only two companies that make their cookware products here in the US: Lodge (Tennessee) and Nordic Ware (Minnesota).
As a Minnesotan, I love that these pans are made not only in the USA, but specifically here in our beloved home state of Minnesota!

5. Pans are very easy to maintain.
You know I love low maintenance and basalt ceramic nonstick cookware is so easy to clean and care for. They don’t stain and rinse very easily!
To wash: We simply wash them as we do all our dishes: with a soft, soapy cloth or sponge. A quick wash, inside and out, in about 30 seconds, and you’re done. I don’t put them in the dishwasher.
To cook: Keeping the heat at a medium temperature will also keep the pans in perfect condition. I’ve found that this also keeps the release properties at their maximum: when the heat is right, with just a little oil or butter, fried eggs, chicken, tofu, or whatever you’re cooking should slide out and flip easily. . !
